Chromatic Drift

“Motion in Color”

Description:

“An experimental motion piece featuring a dancer composed entirely of iridescent and colorful bubbles, animated to music using Mixamo motion capture. The character and environment were modeled in Cinema 4D, with lighting and materials designed to enhance color variation and surface tension. Rendered in Octane Render, the project explores the contrast between rhythmic movement and fragile, transient form.”

Animation Decision

“The camera animation combines subtle in-scene camera shake in Cinema 4D with additional post-production shake in DaVinci Resolve. The post shake is rhythmically synced to the beat, reinforcing the musical flow and enhancing the sense of motion, while maintaining visual coherence throughout the sequence.”

A three-key lighting setup was chosen to enhance depth and create a cinematic separation between the character and the environment. Carefully placed light sources sculpt the form from multiple angles, while complex materials with layered roughness and subtle imperfections break uniformity, reinforcing realism and surface believability.

Big Ideas,
Real Impact

This initial pass focuses on blocking the animation and establishing camera movement to evaluate timing, flow, and potential flaws in the motion. The rough setup allows for early assessment of rhythm and composition before refining lighting, materials, and final camera polish.
